Atlas Creative partnered with Warner Music France and Aya Nakamura to create a virtual concert experience inside Fortnite as part of the Soundwave Series. Leveraging Fortnite's Creative toolset, we crafted an immersive world for fans to experience Aya’s music, bridging the gap between traditional live performances and the boundless opportunities within the metaverse.

CHALLENGE
Aya Nakamura and her label wanted to engage her fanbase in an innovative way, tapping into new technology to expand her audience globally. The goal was to create a virtual concert experience that could connect with fans in real-time and offer the scale and excitement of a live performance—all within Fortnite, a platform that seamlessly blends gaming and entertainment.
SOLUTION
Atlas Creative built a stunning virtual world within Fortnite, designed to mirror the visuals of Aya Nakamura's music videos while also delivering an interactive, "out-of-this-world" experience. By combining Fortnite’s Creative tools with Unreal Engine’s MetaHuman technology, we brought a digital version of Aya Nakamura to life, allowing players to explore the custom-built environment and watch her perform in an entirely new way.

Aya Nakamura, the French-Malian pop sensation, wanted to deliver an unforgettable experience to her fans—old and new—across the globe. As the first French artist to perform in Fortnite, Aya set the stage for a groundbreaking moment not just in her career, but in the evolution of virtual music experiences.

In collaboration with Warner Music France and MADO XR, Atlas Creative took on the challenge of creating a virtual concert that pushed the boundaries of what was possible within the Fortnite platform. The experience was built using Fortnite’s Creative toolset, with Atlas meticulously recreating the photorealistic CG visuals seen in Aya’s music videos. This level of visual fidelity required us to work deeply with lighting, environments, and interactions to make sure the world felt true to her artistic vision while still delivering the excitement Fortnite players expect.

The concert featured a MetaHuman version of Aya Nakamura, captured using motion capture technology to ensure her performance felt alive and dynamic. The result was a seamless blend of a live concert feel, set in an interactive digital space where players could engage with the environment and Aya’s performance simultaneously.

Warner Music France saw this as an opportunity to innovate, finding new ways to connect their artists with fans in virtual spaces. For Aya, it was her “biggest show ever,” giving her a global stage with potentially millions of viewers. The flexibility of the virtual world also allowed for more creative freedom and a faster production timeline compared to a traditional concert tour.
